Richard Ruzicka (1994) started taking piano lessons at the early age of five. Together with his brothers he played many international concerts as a trio.
Over the years, his profound training in classical music was enriched by his practical experience in the fields of Jazz, electronic music, metal, etc. While still at school, he picked up his studies of composition with Prof. Hans-Jürgen von Bose at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich, broadening his horizon to the field of Avantgarde music. His musical style is often marked by fusions of those various backgrounds.
In 2013 Richard Ruzicka started studying film scoring with Prof. Gerd Baumann at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich. At the same time he started writing the music for his first cinema film „LENALOVE“. Few months later, he was nominated for the Golden Eye „Best International Film Music 2014“ at the 10. film music competition of the Zurich Film Festival. Since then he is working on many other projects, amongst others he composed the score for four episodes of Germany’s most popular TV crime series „Tatort“ while he was still in university. In 2018, he won the Rolf-Hans Müller Award for film music.
In 2023, he was nominated for the „Deutscher Musikautor*innen“ Award.
Currently, Richard Ruzicka is composing music for numerous film, television, and series productions, as well as for other media such as gaming. In addition to his work as a film music composer, he can be heard as a pianist and writes absolute music in the field of classical and electronic music.
